Burkina Faso’s digital investment stands to strengthen online lottery access
National connectivity upgrade is expected to improve access to digital lottery services and mobile gaming platforms.
Burkina Faso.- Burkina Faso is investing CFA61bn (€93m) in digital infrastructure in 2026, a move that stands to strengthen national connectivity and improve access to online services, including lottery and betting platforms.
The government approved the funding as part of its 2026 digital strategy, which focuses on expanding broadband coverage, deploying fibre-optic networks, developing mini data centres and accelerating the digitisation of public services.
A report in We Are Tech report stated: “The 2026 Annual Work Plan will include priority initiatives such as expansion of mobile network coverage to underserved areas and deployment of fibre-optic connectivity, along with operationalisation of mini-data centres and digitisation of administrative procedures.”
Digital connectivity and lottery access
While the government’s plan focuses on public services and general connectivity, the enhanced infrastructure stands to create a stronger foundation for wider access to online lottery platforms.
For the National Lottery of Burkina Faso (LONAB), mobile engagement is already visible on its official website, where a QR code promotes the Lonabet app. Enhanced connectivity will allow players to check draw results digitally, participate in mobile lotteries and access other online services more easily.
LONAB continues to operate a range of national lottery and betting products, including Pari Mutuel Urban Betting (PMU’B), instant games and lotto draws. The promotion of mobile apps alongside traditional lottery services reflects the growing intersection of digital engagement and established gaming products.
As Burkina Faso accelerates its digital transformation in 2026, the lottery sector stands to benefit from enhanced connectivity, offering players a more accessible, reliable and modern gaming experience nationwide.
