Botswana hosts record-breaking esports showdown, spotlighting gaming scene

Remmogo FC25 tournament draws top gamers and highlights the country’s thriving gaming scene.

Botswana.- Botswana’s esports scene reached a major milestone as Remmogo Gaming, the premier esports organisation known for staging competitive events and nurturing local gaming talent, hosted what it describes as the “largest competitive football esports clash” in the country’s history. The Remmogo FC25 Esports tournament was backed by a P100,000 (€6,400) sponsorship from leading telecomms Orange Botswana.

The tournament showcased EA Sports FC25, the latest edition of the popular football simulation series by EA (Electronic Arts), renowned for its realistic gameplay and online multiplayer modes.

The knockout-style showdown in Gaborone featured 32 of Botswana’s top gamers battling it out in intense matches that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. The tournament drew widespread attention and was hailed as a milestone for the country’s esports community, highlighting the skill, strategy and competitive spirit of local players.

Orange Botswana powers up esports growth

The tournament was made possible with a €6,400 sponsorship from Orange Botswana, who supported the event as part of its commitment to digital innovation and community engagement.

The event received widespread praise. One participant said on facebook post: “We hosted the biggest E-sport FC25 tournament in the country powered by Orange Botswana. History was made and the crowds showed up and it meant a lot.”

The Remmogo FC25 Tournament positions Botswana as a rising hub for esports in Southern Africa, highlighting the country’s growing talent and the increasing corporate support for gaming initiatives.
