Botswana Gambling Authority strengthens AI and digital gaming oversight
The regulator brought its leadership together in Kasane for a two-day session on AI, cybersecurity and digital governance.
Botswana.- Botswana’s Gambling Authority Board and Executive Management convened for a high-level executive session focused on Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Digital Governance.
The session took place in Kasane from September 10 to 11 and was facilitated by Tichaona Zororo of Enterprise Governance of IT (EGIT), according to the Gambling Authority.
The Authority said: “This strategic engagement was anchored in the vital necessity of future-proofing regulatory oversight as technology transforms the gaming industry.”
It said the session reinforced leadership capability around complex digital risks, information security and responsible technological innovation. The Authority added the engagement was intended to ensure its governance frameworks remain robust, forward-looking and fully aligned with the demands of a digitally empowered gaming ecosystem.
The development comes as the Gambling Authority moves towards the next phase of its strategic bingo and casino licensing roll-out, having issued an Expression of Interest on September 1 to assess investor interest in the proposed developments. The EOI covers proposed casino locations in Central District, Maun and Kasane/Pandamatenga, while bingo opportunities are proposed across several districts.
