Botswana Gambling Authority names Tshepang Magang as CFO

Magang will oversee the Authority’s compliance with financial and regulatory requirements.

Botswana.- The Botswana Gambling Authority has appointed Tshepang Magang as its chief financial officer (CFO), effective immediately.

The regulator announced the appointment on Wednesday, July 15, saying the decision reflects the board’s confidence in Magang’s leadership, institutional knowledge and ability to strengthen the Authority’s long-term financial sustainability.

Magang has more than 15 years of experience in finance, auditing, corporate governance, strategic planning, risk management and regulatory compliance.

She joined the Gambling Authority in 2018 after working at KPMG, where she participated in audit and advisory assignments across multiple sectors, gaining experience in financial reporting, internal controls, enterprise risk management and governance.

Since joining the Authority, Magang has served as internal audit manager, financial planning manager and acting chief financial officer. In those positions, she led financial planning, revenue assurance, performance management and corporate governance initiatives while supporting the regulator’s strategic objectives.

According to the Authority, she also played a key role in strengthening financial governance structures, improving financial controls, enhancing revenue performance and contributing to the organisation’s efforts to respond to the continued growth of Botswana’s gambling sector.

As CFO, Magang joins the executive leadership team and takes responsibility for the Authority’s financial planning and analysis, budgeting, treasury operations, procurement oversight, investment planning, revenue optimisation and risk management. She will also oversee compliance with financial and regulatory requirements.

The Authority said Magang will also provide strategic financial advice to the board and executive management while leading initiatives to strengthen financial sustainability, improve governance and accountability, optimise revenue collection and align financial strategy with the regulator’s broader organisational objectives.

The board noted that it is confident that Magang’s experience, technical expertise and understanding of the organisation will strengthen the Authority’s financial management and support its mandate to regulate Botswana’s gambling industry in a transparent, responsible and sustainable manner.

Magang’s appointment marks another permanent addition to the Authority’s executive leadership, coming days after the board confirmed Moruntshi Kemorwale as its substantive chief executive officer (CEO).
