BetXplosion Opens Betting Hub in Botswana
BetXplosion will commit 5 per cent of its GGR to CSR initiatives.
Botswana.- BetXplosion has entered the Botswana sports betting market with a physical betting outlet in Gaborone’s Bontleng neighbourhood.
The betting operator officially begins its journey in the jurisdiction after securing a licence from the Gambling Authority in 2018.
The launch was celebrated with a grand opening ceremony attended by Gambling Authority officials, government representatives and members of the local community.
In his keynote speech, Marvin T. Torto, chairman of the Gambling Authority Board, noted that the launch marked a significant milestone in the country’s gaming industry. He said: “This launch is not just about business—it’s about reinforcing our shared commitment to a regulated, inclusive gambling industry that protects the public interest.
“We urge BetXplosion to lead by example – in compliance, innovation, community development and player protection.”
Torto also emphasised the Authority’s commitment to responsible gaming and a zero-tolerance policy for underage play. The regulator uses AI technology to track betting patterns and prevent financial crimes.
BetXplosion, which is recognised for being fully owned by local citizens, has created jobs for 25 people at its flagship location. The operator also reinforces its support for community development by sourcing 90 per cent of its supplies locally and committing 5 per cent of its gross gaming revenue (GGR) to corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
BetXplosion’s launch follows closely on the heels of Bet267’s debut in the jurisdiction. With the entry of the two new operators, the local gaming market becomes more competitive, potentially leading to better services and increased innovation.
This development aligns with the Authority’s goal to increase channelisation toward using regulated platforms. Last month, the regulator revealed that only 40 per cent of nearly 500,000 bettors in Botswana use licensed operators.
