Betwinner supports community sport during Zambia’s cultural celebrations
Billiards tournament highlights grassroots participation as cultural festivities bring communities together in Eastern Province.
Zambia.- Zambia’s Betwinner has sponsored a community billiards tournament held alongside the Ncwala Ceremony, highlighting the operator’s involvement in grassroots sport during cultural celebrations.
The tournament featured billiards, more commonly known as pool, which is widely played in community competitions across Zambia. The event took place during the vibrant festivities and brought together local players for a day of friendly competition and celebration. Betwinner said the event combined “skill, culture and celebration” during the Ncwala festivities.
Ncwala, one of Zambia’s most significant traditional events, is celebrated each year by the Ngoni people in the Eastern Province and marks the first fruits of the harvest. The ceremony draws large crowds and features traditional dances, rituals and community gatherings led by local chiefs and cultural leaders.
Alongside these traditions, the billiards competition provided an additional sporting attraction for attendees, giving local players the opportunity to showcase their cue sport skills in a relaxed and festive atmosphere.
