Betika sponsors AFC Leopards with KSh231m deal, boosting Kenyan football

Gaming giant Betika invests in AFC Leopards, strengthening Kenyan football, boosting grassroots talent and paving the way for the new season.

Kenya.- Kenya’s leading gaming powerhouse, Betika, has reinforced its dominance in local football by signing a record KSh231m (€1.8m) sponsorship deal with African Football Club (AFC) Leopards.

The three-year partnership, the largest financial deal in the club’s history, strengthens Betika’s influence in Kenyan sports, backing the twelve-time Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League Champions while investing in grassroots talent.

The deal represents a significant upgrade from the Ksh195m (€1.51m) package signed in 2022 and comes at a crucial time as the 2025/26 season kicks off on September 20.

Under the three-year agreement, AFC Leopards will receive KSh65m (€502,761) plus KSh7m (€54,160) in bonuses in the first year, KSh70m (€541,596) plus KSh7m (€54,160) in the second year, and KSh75m (€580,281) plus KSh7m (€54,160) in the third year. The package gives the club unprecedented financial stability.

At the signing ceremony, Betika Group CEO Mutua Mutava described the partnership as more than just a financial deal.

“We are proud to continue this journey with AFC Leopards, a club that shares our vision of nurturing home-grown talent and building communities. This sponsorship is more than just funding; it’s about creating hope, structure and opportunity for the next generation of footballers,” he said, according to Daily Sport.

Betika’s Mutua Mutava seals record sponsorship deal, backing the next generation of Kenyan football stars.

He added that football is a lifeline for thousands of young Kenyans chasing their big-league dreams, and through the renewed partnership, “Betika is reinforcing the power of sport to transform lives.”

Backing clubs, building stars

AFC Leopards Chairman Boniface Ambani welcomed the continued backing. “This renewed support could not have come at a better time as we prepare for the new season. We are deeply grateful to Betika for their continued faith in our club, especially at a time when Kenyan football urgently needs structured investment,” he said.

He added that sustainable partnerships like this one are “about building a pipeline of stars from the village pitch to the national stadium”.

Betika’s investment is a pledge to Kenyan football. By backing twelve-time FKF Premier League Champions AFC Leopards, the company is nurturing talent from the grassroots to the national stage and giving young players the platform to chase their dreams while strengthening the sport.
