Bet9ja explains vision for Nigerian sports
Operator says sports sponsorship is the key to unlocking the country’s potential and achieving international success.
Nigeria.- Sportsbook operator Bet9ja has shed light on the rationale behind its ongoing commitment to sports development in Nigeria. According to the company, sports sponsorship is the key to unlocking the country’s potential and achieving international success.
The announcement comes on the heels of the operator’s recent sponsorships of British-Nigerian boxer Moses Itauma and Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) Ikenne-based team Remo Stars.
Ituama, tipped as a future world champion, signed a brand ambassador deal with Bet9ja in August 2025, just before his August 16 bout against Dillian Whyte. He won the fight in less than a round.
Remo Stars, a club that began as a grassroots academy, became the NPFL champion in the previous 2024/25 season, with 71 points from 22 wins, five draws and 11 losses. Kunle Soname, owner of Remo Stars FC and Co-founder of Bet9ja, has been instrumental in guiding the team’s ascension to NPFL glory. Now, with Bet9ja’s official backing, Remo Stars plans to defend its crown and win the CAF Champions League, a feat no Nigerian side has achieved since Enyimba in 2004.
Jennifer Olatunji, Bet9ja’s Senior Marketing Manager, said: “Football is the heart of many young people in Nigeria. Our investment in Remo Stars is a way of investing in local talent and building a world-class future for Nigerian football and its rising stars.”
By investing in sports development, Bet9ja is providing athletes with better training and exposure, setting the stage for more successes in African and global sports. The company aims to inspire a new generation of Nigerian stars, turning personal dreams into national pride.
