Benin.- The National Lottery of Benin (LNB SA) has appointed Marius Adanzounon as its new director general, with the new leader pledging to build on the lottery’s transformation and guide its next phase of development.

Adanzounon officially assumed office on June 16 following a handover ceremony with Gaston Zossou, the outgoing director general, who led the National Lottery of Benin for the past decade. The appointment marks a new chapter for LNB SA as the lottery builds on a decade of governance reforms while “adapting to an evolving lottery and gaming sector“, according to an LNB statement.

During the ceremony, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors Sarah Kpénou praised the structural reforms implemented under Zossou’s leadership over the past 10 years. She said the next phase of the lottery’s development would focus on accelerating digitalisation, modernising management tools and ensuring LNB SA continues to adapt to changes across the lottery and gaming industry.

Among the milestones achieved during Zossou’s tenure was LNB SA’s historic listing on the Regional Stock Exchange (BRVM), a move the lottery said strengthened its governance and reinforced its standing within the regional market.

Before handing over the leadership of the organisation, Zossou thanked employees for their professionalism, commitment and competence, saying the company’s achievements were the result of the collective efforts of its workforce.

Officially taking office, Adanzounon paid tribute to his predecessor and pledged to build on the progress already made. He said: “Important milestones have been set. They are solid foundations on which we will rely to continue the transformation and lead LNB SA towards new performances.”

The new director general said he intends to continue the lottery’s modernisation programme, strengthen its operational and financial performance, and expand LNB SA’s contribution to Benin’s socio-economic development. He also encouraged employees to maintain the collective spirit that has supported the organisation’s success, describing the transition as one built on continuity while embracing innovation.
