Angola’s ISJ takes anti-illegal gambling campaign to Viana public markets
Regulator expands its public outreach efforts by taking consumer education and prevention activities directly to merchants and customers in two public markets in Viana.
Angola.- Angola’s Institute of Game Supervision (ISJ) has taken its anti-illegal gambling campaign to the Regedoria and Luanda Sul public markets in Viana, expanding its consumer-facing education and prevention efforts to promote responsible gambling and strengthen regulatory oversight.
The campaign, conducted in partnership with the Municipal Administration of Viana on July 17, targeted merchants and customers at the two public markets, where ISJ officials explained the risks associated with illegal gambling, the legal implications of illicit gaming activities, and the responsibilities of those involved in the sector.
The initiative was led by Cláudio Paulo, ISJ deputy director general, assisted by Afonso da Silva, head of the supervision and inspection department. Officials also distributed flyers, posters, and roll-up banners promoting legal and responsible gambling.
The regulator said the initiative forms part of efforts to reinforce supervision and inspection mechanisms across Angola’s gaming sector, with the aim of strengthening trust in the sector, protecting vulnerable groups, safeguarding public health and promoting responsible gambling.
“The ISJ reaffirms its commitment to intensify education, prevention and inspection actions throughout the national territory, promoting a culture of respect for the law and encouraging the active participation of citizens in the fight against illegal gambling,” the regulator said.
The Viana campaign follows a series of recent ISJ initiatives, including the destruction of 182 illegal gaming machines in Cabinda and an anti-illegal gambling awareness campaign in Kilamba Kiaxi, as the regulator continues to strengthen enforcement and public engagement across Angola’s gaming sector.
The Viana campaign forms part of ISJ’s ongoing nationwide education, prevention and inspection programme as the regulator continues to promote respect for the law and encourage public participation in the fight against illegal gambling.
