Angola’s gaming regulator launches ‘ISJ in Dialogue’ collaborative supervision initiative
The initiative marks a new way of exercising regulation and supervision, with the Gaming Supervision Institute seeking to strengthen compliance and cooperation across Angola’s regulated gambling sector.
Angola.- Angola has launched the “ISJ in Dialogue” initiative, introducing a new way of exercising regulation and supervision through collaborative oversight of the gaming sector. The Gaming Supervision Institute (ISJ) said the initiative reinforces its strategy of collaborative supervision and closer engagement with the gaming sector.
It officially began on July 21 with an institutional visit to gaming operator Primeira Aposta in Luanda. The ISJ delegation was led by director general Dr. Nerethz Tati and included the head of the department of support to the director general and senior technicians from the Institute’s various departments. The team was received by Primeira Aposta chairman of the Board Dr. Hussein Aich, together with the company’s directors.
During the meeting, Primeira Aposta outlined the evolution of its business since 2020, highlighting the mechanisms it has implemented to strengthen compliance, the gradual transition of its mediation network to the Mediadores Express model based on its own establishments, ongoing training for mediators and the company’s social responsibility initiatives.
Speaking during the meeting, Tati said the “ISJ in Dialogue” initiative represents “a new way of exercising regulation and supervision.” She said: “To regulate is also to listen, to supervise is also to understand.”
Tati added that modern supervision is built through permanent dialogue with operators, promoting an environment of trust, transparency and shared responsibility.
The ISJ also recommended strengthening the standardisation of the visual identity of authorised mediators to facilitate their identification by players, strengthen the transparency of the activity and consolidate confidence in the regulated market.
According to the regulator, ISJ in Dialogue forms part of its broader institutional strategy to strengthen the culture of compliance, encourage the adoption of good practices, build an active cooperative relationship with operators and contribute to an increasingly honest, transparent and sustainable gaming sector.
The initiative follows recent ISJ regulatory measures, including rules ending street betting sales and requiring gaming intermediaries to operate from fixed, authorised outlets by December 14, 2026, as Angola strengthens oversight of its regulated gambling sector.
