National Gambling Board takes responsible gambling campaign to KwaZulu-Natal colleges

South Africa.- The National Gambling Board (NGB) has continued its responsible gambling awareness campaign in KwaZulu-Natal, with a week-long outreach programme at five TVET college campuses focused on responsible gambling, illegal gambling, and informed decision-making.
The programme, which runs from July 21 to 24, includes visits to uMfolozi TVET College’s Sundumbili Campus and four Elangeni TVET College campuses in Ntuzuma, Pinetown, Mpumalanga, and KwaDabeka.
Announcing the initiative, the Board said it aims to strengthen communities through education, dialogue, and public participation by engaging directly with students across the province.

The latest outreach follows another community engagement held on July 18 in Dundee, where the NGB partnered with the KwaZulu-Natal Economic Regulator Authority (KZNERA) and the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (SARGF). The organisations met with members of the local community to raise awareness of responsible gambling and responsible drinking as part of a joint public education campaign.
By extending the programme to higher education institutions, the Board aims to equip young adults with the knowledge needed to identify gambling-related risks, avoid illegal gambling operators, and understand the principles of responsible gambling.
The NGB noted that it will continue engaging communities through education and public participation as part of its responsible gambling initiatives.
