Angola regulator educates Mabunda Market merchants on illegal gambling laws
ISJ officials stressed that gambling activities must comply with Angola’s legal framework and that operators are required to obtain the necessary licence before conducting gaming activities.
Angola.- Angola’s gaming regulator, the Gaming Supervision Institute (ISJ) has stepped up its campaign against illegal gambling with an awareness exercise targeting merchants at Mabunda Market in Luanda’s Samba Municipalityy.
The initiative, conducted on August 14 in collaboration with the Municipal Administration of Samba, focused on informing merchants and members of the public about the risks associated with illegal gambling and the legal consequences of operating or participating in unlicensed activities.
The session was led by ISJ deputy director-general Cláudio Paulo, with the support of Afonso Hermenegildo da Silva, head of the department of supervision and inspection.
During the exercise, ISJ officials stressed that gambling activities must comply with Angola’s legal framework and that operators are required to obtain the necessary licence before conducting gaming activities.
The regulator also used the campaign to promote responsible gambling and encourage citizens to avoid activities conducted outside the regulated gaming system. Information leaflets and posters containing prevention messages were distributed to support the campaign.
The ISJ said the campaign forms part of its wider supervision, inspection and prevention activities aimed at strengthening compliance within Angola’s gaming sector and protecting citizens, particularly vulnerable groups, from the risks associated with illegal gambling.
The institute added that it will continue carrying out awareness and prevention activities across the country as it works to curb illegal gambling and strengthen regulation within the gaming sector.
