Angola gaming regulator launches Huíla Provincial Service to oversee three provinces
The move forms part of the ISJ’s decentralisation strategy to expand its regional presence and strengthen engagement with communities, operators and public authorities.
Angola.- Angola’s gambling regulator, the Gaming Supervision Institute (ISJ) has established a new Provincial Service in Huíla to oversee gaming activities in the province as well as in Benguela and Huambo.
The service was formally presented at a ceremony in Huíla attended by representatives of public institutions, gaming operators and other local stakeholders.
Dr Nascimento Caetano, representing Huíla Provincial finance delegate Dr Brandão Bartolomeu, opened the ceremony by highlighting the importance of cooperation between the ISJ and other institutions in enforcing the rules governing gaming activities.
During the event, ISJ southern regional head Dr Abel Carlos Buzi Nduli explained the structure and responsibilities of the Institute and outlined the legal framework governing gaming in Angola.
He outlined the ISJ’s focus on responsible gaming, tackling illegal gambling and ensuring that operators meet their regulatory obligations.
The new provincial service forms part of the ISJ’s decentralisation strategy to expand its regional presence and strengthen engagement with communities, operators and public authorities.
With Huíla as its base, the service will also cover Benguela and Huambo, giving the Institute a regional structure through which it can respond more closely to developments in the three provinces. The move is intended to facilitate regulatory interventions and improve communication with stakeholders operating within the Southern Region.
The initiative also places greater emphasis on responsible gaming and the protection of citizens, while strengthening efforts to identify and address illegal gambling activities. Closer engagement with operators is expected to support compliance with the legislation and regulatory requirements applicable to the sector.
Speaking on behalf of ISJ director-general Dr Nerethz Tati, Nduli delivered the closing remarks and reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to institutional proximity, citizen protection and stronger regulation of gaming activities.
