Angola gaming regulator holds gambling workshop for financial-markets staff
Latest session focused on gaming activity classification as ISJ reaffirms commitment to inter-institutional cooperation.
Angola.- Angola’s Gaming Supervision Institute (ISJ), the country’s gaming regulator, has held a workshop for employees of the Capital Markets Commission (CMC), Angola’s financial-markets regulator, focused on the classification of gaming activities. The session aimed to strengthen their knowledge of Angola’s gaming sector and was conducted under the cooperation protocol between the two institutions.
The August 7 workshop saw the ISJ reaffirm its commitment to “strengthening inter-institutional cooperation”, while recognising technical training as an essential factor for excellence in the performance of its duties. The ISJ and CMC signed their cooperation protocol on October 28, 2025.
The CMC said the agreement provides a framework for cooperation in regulation, supervision, and inspection, including technical and statistical information-sharing, training and technical capacity-building, and coordinated supervision of operators in sectors under the remit of both institutions. It also covers cooperation in preventing and combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
The August workshop followed a separate session on June 26, 2026, in which the CMC held a workshop for ISJ employees on capital-markets fundamentals and investment opportunities. The CMC said that session formed part of the implementation of its cooperation protocol with the ISJ.
During the August session, the ISJ also shared information on its work to promote responsible gaming, including preventing minors from accessing and participating in games. The regulator also highlighted player self-exclusion when gambling compromises a player’s health, family life, professional life, or finances.
