Africa Games Week 2025 invites trailblazers to shape gaming’s future

Premier Games Week shines a spotlight on the people and ideas driving African gaming forward.

South Africa.- Africa’s gaming industry is stepping into the global spotlight, and Africa Games Week 2025 is positioning itself as the stage where the continent’s boldest voices will be heard. Now in its eighth edition, the festival of ideas and innovation is set to take place from December 1-4 in South Africa.

Over four days, the event will showcase African game developers, spark collaboration and highlight how the continent is not just participating in the global games market but reshaping it.

Under the theme “Shining a spotlight on the African Gaming Industry” and sub-theme “Shaping our Future in Games”, this year’s event promises to challenge conventions and inspire new ways of thinking.

Organisers said in a statement: “This year’s program will feature thought-provoking talks, hands-on workshops and future-focused panels that spotlight the people, platforms and progress powering African gaming.”

The event team has opened a call for speakers, inviting “trailblazers, creators, thinkers and doers” from Africa and beyond to share their insights, experiences and bold ideas with the continent’s gaming community.

Program facilitators are encouraging participants to find new ways of financing, promote local talent and inspire innovation that is genuinely African in identity and vision.

Organisers also stated: “To grow, Africa’s gaming industry must boldly disrupt. Our challenges are many, but so too are our opportunities, and it is this paradox that compels us to innovate.”

With submissions closing on 30 August 2025, Africa Games Week 2025 promises to be more than an event. It is set to be a catalyst for Africa’s gaming revolution.
