400 Horses Casino opens in Montana

Located in Polson, the 35,000-square-foot destination features approximately 300 gaming machines.

US.- The new 400 Horses Casino has opened in Polson, Montana, after its completion ahead of schedule. The Indian Gaming Association (IGA) joined the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes and S&K Gaming for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Located near Highway 83 and Polson Airport, the 35,000-square-foot venue has approximately 300 gaming machines plus outdoor patio areas and a restaurant. The operations support more than 200 jobs, with additional employment opportunities added each summer.

The name “400 Horses” honours Chief Alexander of the Pend d’Oreille people, a tribal leader remembered for his prominence in the region.

David Z. Bean, chairman of IGA, said: “This beautiful facility reflects the strength and vision of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes and their commitment to investing in the future of their people. Tribal gaming continues to create opportunity, support families, and strengthen communities across Indian Country while protecting and exercising tribal sovereignty.

“Tribal gaming is about much more than entertainment. It is about creating opportunities for future generations, strengthening tribal economies, and ensuring tribes have the ability to provide for their communities through their own success and leadership.”

In April 2025, S&K Gaming broke ground on the casino. A ceremony was held on site to mark the beginning of the project with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes (CSKT).
