Wynn Resorts insists in Massachusetts
US$600 million per year will be lost if the Everentt can’t open its doors in 2018.
US.- Everett Casino & Resorts keeps being delayed and its future operator, Wynn Resorts, is not feeling very patient. In response to last week’s administrative appeal that doubts about the environmental permission, the company assured that each month of delay will cost US$55 million to Massachusetts.
The defense of the giant casino company appeals to great amount of taxes that a new project will bring to the state. At Somerville city, the complex would pay US$170 million in payroll and US$248 million in casino operations. The complex would contribute also with better employment rate. But voices against it ensures that it would affect the health of the community.
However, Mayor Joseph Curtatone is not very fond of Wynn’s latest proposal and he expressed that the city would rather grow in health and quality of life services. Furthermore, the petition for an investigation of the casino’ environmental permission, delivered by Department of Environmental Protection, was signed by the mayor. The legal fight could last six months or a year and until it is solved, the Wynn’s casino would not be built.
