ZenSports strikes deal with eye to entering US
A deal with Strategic Gaming Management means ZenSports could obtain the physical presence needed to launch in Nevada.
US.- ZenSports has made a move towards gaining a US licence for its peer-to-peer sports betting product by sealing a deal with Strategic Gaming Management.
The agreement gives ZenSports an option to buy Strategic’s The Big Wheel Casino, plus an option to operate the sportsbook at Baldini’s Sports Casino.
Buying the Big Wheel Casino would gives Zen Sports the physical presence required by the Nevada Gaming Control Board to operate mobile sports betting the state.
ZenSports is known for its peer-to-peer API, which gives users the ability to create and accept sports bets with any other user within legal markets. The idea is that without the centralised bookemakers, customers can place bets at a cheaper rate.
The peer-to-peer product was launched in 2019 with the intention of entering international markets.
CEO and Co-founder Mark Thomas said: “One of the biggest hurdles in getting licensed to operate an internet/mobile sports betting platform in the United States is the requirement to own or partner with a land-based sportsbook and casino.
“Through our great relationship with Strategic Gaming Management, we were able to secure the option to purchase this business in Nevada, which is the first critical step in getting ZenSports licensed and operating in the state.”
