Mihai-Gavril Pitileac, Oddsgate: “Africa is not anymore the promised upcoming market. It is already a very mature and growing market”

During SBC Summit Lisbon 2026, Focus Gaming News sat down with Mihai-Gavril Pitileac, Chief Commercial Officer at Oddsgate, to discuss the company’s platform business in Africa and Latin America and its push to give small studios a route to market.
Pitileac described Oddsgate as a platform provider offering full turnkey solutions, with a focus on Latin America, clients in Africa and a Romanian licence. Lisbon, he noted, holds a special place for the company, as it is both its main hub and where it all began. Expanding across emerging markets takes time, he explained, because each one is built individually. Africa in particular is not a single market but a continent of many countries, each with its own regulation, so Oddsgate has developed its product together with strong regional partners to adapt to local needs.
He argued that Africa is “no longer the promised, upcoming market” but “already a very mature and growing market”. Citing a study, he said around 90 per cent of African bettors bet on mobile, and put annual growth at around 70 per cent. Angola is one of Oddsgate’s strongest markets, he said, with Mozambique also in place and discussions under way in Kenya.
On Brazil, Pitileac said it is not for the company to question lawmakers’ decisions. Oddsgate has operated there since regulation and finds the decision sad, but, he said, “we just have to be patient and respect the process”, noting that a Senate decision was still pending. Elsewhere in LatAm, he pointed to Mexico gaining traction and to Colombia, Peru and Chile as the markets with the highest growth potential.
Finally, he explained how Oddsgate’s game studio, launched a couple of years ago to target Latin America, evolved into an aggregation offer. The company helps small studios, which he said struggle to reach operators in a market dominated by big players, with RGS access, distribution, certification and company set-up, while also integrating top-tier providers. Oddsgate, he added, has invested heavily in the infrastructure to support this.
