Yokohama IR plan continues to develop
The Yokohama IR push has good news as the government announced the establishment of a specialised committee to advise the city on the operator’s selection.
Japan.- The casino industry continues to slowly approach Japan. Its latest movement involves Yokohama, and its decision to set an IR specialised committee for its potential arrival.
The group will assess and aid the government in the selection of a business partner. Galaxy, Genting Singapore, Las Vegas Sands, Melco, Sega Sammy, and Wynn have voiced their intentions to develop a Yokohama IR.
The new committee plan will arrive in the Yokohama City Council on February 13, after they submit it.
Companies push for a Yokohama IR
The gaming industry will soon expand in Japan and most of the largest jurisdictions want a piece of it. That’s why casino companies are looking forward to getting a Yokohama development, by Yamashita Pier.
The municipal government revealed that seven IR operators are participating in its RFC (request for comments) process. Galaxy, Genting, Melco, Sands, Sega Sammy, and Wynn had already voiced their interest in the region. However, there is an undisclosed seventh player involved.
All casino operators will file with the government of Yokohama their concept proposals before December 23. Then, in the first quarter of 2020, they’ll discuss the projects.
