Wynn modifies Everett’s project

The luxury Everett casino near the Mystic River in Massachusetts will have less space for retail shops, according to Wynn.

US.- Wynn Boston Harbor casino in Massachusetts, near the Mystic River, has reduced 80 percent of the space destined to luxury retail shops. The modification plans were announced by Robert DeSalvio, Wynn Resorts’ top Massachusetts executive to the American press. The exclusive touristic and entertainment experience in the State will be opened by mid-2019.

The Everett resort and casino is highly expected for visitors and representatives of the international gaming industry. Wynn is investing US$2.4 billion in the Massachusetts venue. However, the plans for a dedicated space for top-tier retail brands, such as Chanel, Gucci, Armani and Louis Vuitton have been 80 percent reduced.

DeSalvio revealed that they have eliminated 10 shops from the retail space, which has been reduced from 53,000 square feet to 9,000. The new measure shows that Steve Wynn’s aspiration to imitate the State’s Newbury Street near the Mystic River will not be accomplished. However, Wynn Boston Harbor is one of the biggest casino project under construction nowadays.

The rest of the space that was previously expected for the retail shops will be used for the installation of convention centres and meetings. Although the company assured that a big retail space would help boosting the local revenues, in order to obtain the State’s permission of operation, gaming experts believe that the Massachusetts Gaming Commission will approve the latest modification.
