Wynn continues to move towards Japan IR

Wynn Resorts is getting ready to develop a casino in Japan, which is why the company will open an office in the country.

Japan.- Integrated resorts (IRs) continue to be the main discussion topic for the gambling industry in Japan as legislation was recently approved to allow the casino sector to operate in the country. While the government continues to assess the final regulations, companies like Wynn Resorts try to position themselves to develop a gaming venue in the country.

According to the president of Wynn Resorts Development, Chris Gordon, the company will open a Japan IR development office before 2019. “We’re right now negotiating an office space,” he told Asia Gaming Brief, but couldn’t reveal when it will open its doors.

“We’ve added additional folks both in our US operation that are focused on this, and also some additional folks in Japan. Right now they are consultants, but we are also going to be adding some permanent staff in Japan,” he added.

According to the executive, Wynn has decided not to compete in any of the regional cities. “At this point, we are looking at the large urban markets,” he said and confirmed the company’s participation in the Osaka and Yokohama request for information processes.
