Wynn’s Boston Harbour casino is soon to open

The MGC gave Wynn a key approval to conduct the trial gambling in its Encore Boston Harbour venue, prior to opening to business.

US.- The Encore Boston Harbour has been through several different stages but is now soon to open. The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) cleared Wynn to conduct the trial gambling days next week.

The regulator inspected Wynn’s Boston Harbour venue and also confirmed it has met or exceeded most of its licence requirements. They checked on the casino’s 3,158 slot machines, 143 table games and 88 poker tables before giving the key approval.

The venue’s failed sale

The US$2.6 billion venue may be ready by June 23 but could have switched hands as Wynn and MGM discussed a potential deal. They revealed the information and announced the transaction wouldn’t delay its opening.

The mayor’s stance

Wynn’s casino is located in Everett, a town that wouldn’t have been on board with the sale. According to Mayor Carlo DeMaria, he would block any transfer of ownership.“We’re not going to budge, we’re not going to allow another resort to buying this facility,” he told Radio Boston on Tuesday. “Especially if they’re not a five-star resort like Wynn is, a company that can really draw an international clientele, really create the destination resort feel.”
