The GST Council from India has decided on an uniform tax rate for both state and private lottery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
India.- The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council from India has advanced a measure that sets an uniform tax rate of 28% on state and private lottery. This new tax will come into force on March 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Current regulations establish that state lotteries attract 12% GST and private ones are subject to a 28% tax, Times of India reported. The proposal ended up with 21 votes in favour and seven against it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe went ahead with a decision to have a vote. So it\u2019s not imposed by the Council<\/em><\/strong>, it\u2019s not imposed by me as the Chair, but it was on a request from one member,\u201d said Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who heads the council.<\/p>\n\n\n\nGoa: offshore casino to be moved<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
