William Hill, Unibet and Betway on Lithuania’s black list
The country’s National Parliament deemed the online operators’ activities illegal.
Lithuania.- After the Lithuanian Parliament determined the operators are breaking national law by offering online gambling services to residents, William Hill, Unibet and Betway have been blacklisted. The Lithuania Gaming Control Authority requested the country’s Internet Services Provider (iSP) to IP-block the companies.
William Hill, Unibet and Betway are the first international companies to have been blacklisted but it is understood other operators will follow. The measure came after new laws were passed at the beginning of the year, tightening regulations on overseas companies offering online gambling to within Lithuania.
However, according to the Gaming Control Authority the operators currently blacklisted and those companies that are likely to be included on the black list, are still welcome to apply for an online gambling license to offer their services, like TonyBet and Orakulas, which are allowed to operate in the country since they have been fully licensed.
