William Hill settles FanDuel lawsuit

The company has settled its lawsuit against the fantasy sports operator after alleged plagiarism.

US.- William Hill has settled a lawsuit that argued that FanDuel had copied its “how to bet” guide word for word. The company said that it will use part of the money from the settlement to fund creative writing classes.

While the bookmaker didn’t specify the value of the agreement, William Hill said that it won’t seek financial settlement to cover legal fees associated with the lawsuit. The original suit was filed in October 2018 and highlighted that FanDuel’s publication featured identical wording from William Hill’s original guide.

William Hill US CEO Joe Asher said: “We are going to use some of the proceeds to fund scholarships for creative writing programs at New Jersey universities and we are also going to donate to an organisation that supports people with gambling problems, a very important issue for us.”
