William Hill ends operations in Czech Republic

William Hill will not apply for an iGaming license in the European country.

Czech Republic.- William Hill announced last month that the company is leaving Czech Republic due to the implementation of a new gaming law. Since January, the Czech industry will be controlled by the new Gambling Act which requires further licenses to operate in the iGaming market.

One of the greatest international gaming companies reported in December via e-mail that they will not apply for this year’s new licenses. However, William Hill stated that they could return to the European country by presenting the petition to authorities, but for now they have decided to stop the services.

Czech Republic’s gambling law, which was approved last summer, went into effect yesterday, January 1. The national authorities are set to strengthen the regulations and controls over the iGaming and casino industry and its operators.
