William Hill expands its reach in the UK
The company set a new deal to operate retail betting shops at all racecourses from The Jockey Club.
UK.- William Hill announced on Thursday that it has agreed a five-year deal with The Jockey Club (JCR) to operate retail betting shops at all 15 racecourses nationwide, starting this week. William Hill will succeed current partner, Betfred, as JCR’s exclusive betting shop provider.
The five-year agreement that was reached between both parties will see William Hill provide a High Street retail betting shop experience across 31 on-course facilities (at minimum) at Jockey Club Racecourses, including Aintree, Cheltenham, Epsom Downs and Newmarket’s two courses, JCR said.
William Hill is set to succeed Betfred as JCR’s exclusive betting shop provider, except at Cheltenham, where the company will operate six facilities alongside The Winning Post and Star Sports. With the new deal, William Hill will be available to more than two million racegoers that attend JCR’s 348 fixtures every year.
William Hill’s Divisional Director, Steven White, said: “We are delighted to reach this landmark agreement with Jockey Club Racecourses. William Hill shares The Jockey Club’s vision and passion for horseracing and we believe this will be a formidable partnership that will benefit the sport of horseracing for years to come.”
Dickon White, Group Betting Director, Jockey Club Racecourses, said: “I’m really pleased that we have reached an agreement with William Hill to provide a comprehensive retail service to our customers across all 15 of The Jockey Club’s racecourses. They have proved an excellent partner in other areas over time and provided a compelling five-year offer through a competitive process.”
