West Virginia totals $600k in sports bets
The first weekend of legal sports betting in the Mountain State has brought more than US$600k.
US.- Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races has launched sports betting services this weekend, only a few months after the US Supreme Court lifted the federal ban on the gambling modality. The casino informed that gamblers bet more than US$600k in the first week of activity.
Erich Zimny, Vice President of Racing Operations and Sports at Charles Town, said that operations “are going well,” and that the past weekend had college football as the biggest sport attraction. Zimny explained that the West Virginia vs. Tennessee matchup generated high interest at the casino.
The casino that is located only an hour away from Washington offers wagering on football, basketball, soccer, baseball, golf, tennis, hockey, auto racing, boxing, MMA and cycling, among other sports.
The Charles Town venue was the first casino licensed to offer sports betting in the state, and had to install the necessary software and train employees before it was cleared to start sports betting operations.
