Veikkaus to expand ID controls from January
The Finnish gambling monopoly has confirmed it will introduce the calls across its network of slot machines.
Finland.- Veikkaus has confirmed that it will introduce compulsory identity verification controls across its slots network from January 12, earlier than initially planned.
The measure affects slots machines hosted at third-party locations. It will be expanded to Veikkaus’ own arcades later in the year.
Under the system, players will have to log in order to play on slots. Players will also be able to use the system to self-exclude.
It follows a pilot programme that was launched in September and subsequently expanded in November.
Veikkaus has also cut the number of slot machines in operation by 8,000 this year.
Veikkaus recently announced that it was negotiating temporary layoffs after having to close Casino Helsinki and the Feel Vegas and Pelaamo arcade chains due to Covid-19 measures.
