UK.- The UK Gambling Commission posted an up-to-date overview of the state of British online gambling industry based on figures from all licensed operators offering online gaming options in Great Britain. This report is an update of the last set of statistics released by the Commission late in 2015.
£12.6 billion (US$ 16.68 billion) was generated in gross gambling yield, which is the amount retained by gaming operators after winnings are paid but before operation costs are deducted, between October 2014 and September 2015.
There were 8,809 betting shops operating within Great Britain’s borders as of March 2016, down 1.9 percent in comparison to the number of such facilities to have been operational as of March of the previous year. There were a total of 1,721 arcades in the country as of March 2016, showing an 11.1 percent decrease as compared to the 1,937 arcades that operated in Great Britain as of March 2015.
All betting shops across the country totalled 34,704 B2 machines, according to the latest statistics report. Their number decreased 0.5 percent as compared to the figures posted for the period between April 2014 and March 2015. Gross gambling yield from these machines amounted to £1.68 billion (US$2.22 billion) during the latest period to be reviewed, reflecting a 1.5 percent rise.
