UK’s gambling billionaires climb the Sunday Times Rich List
Bet365 founder Denise Coates and her family are 16th on this year’s list.
UK.- The UK’s biggest gambling billionaires have risen up the Sunday Times Rich List. Bet365 founder Denise Coates and her family are up four places from last year at number 16 in the 2025 ranking of the 1,000 richest people and families in the UK.
Coates, her father Peter and brother John are said to have an estimated net wealth of £9.45bn. They return to the same position they occupied on the list in 2022 and 2023, up from 20th place last year.
Denise Coates established Bet365 in 2001 with £15m borrowed against the family betting shop business. The Guardian newspaper reported earlier this month that the operator was exploring a potential sale, partial sale or a US IPO, which could mean a windfall for its founder.

Elsewhere on the 2025 Sunday Times Rich List, PokerStars founder Mark Scheinberg climbed from 41st to 38th with an estimated net wealth of £5.08bn, and Betfred founders Fred and Peter Done rose from 76th to 57th with a fortune of £2.92bn.
Meanwhile, Ian and Richard Livingstone, who hold a stake in Evolution, are listed in 34th place, down from 34th, with a net wealth of £5.73bn. Michael Tabor, who owns BetVictor is listed in 199th place with £800m, and Ruth Parasol, founder of PartyGaming (now part of Entain) is 203rd with £780m.
