UK’s ASA issues new warning

The regulatory agency warned Gala Interactive over its future marketing activities.

UK.- The Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) issued a new warning on Wednesday to gaming company Gala Interactive over its marketing activities after it launched a new campaign.

The regulatory agency launched its investigation after Gala Interactive released a new ad on May 5th for its galaspins.com website. The complaint argued that the ad implied that gambling involved some type of skill instead of chance, and could be seen as socially irresponsible.

ASA said that the company failed to recognise that in the context of the ad it was an invitation to gamble online. “In that context, the claim therefore implicitly suggested that viewers could exercise a degree of skill or would be able to improve their opportunity to win at a game of chance. We therefore concluded that the ad was irresponsible and thereby breached the CAP Code.”
