Denmark.- Danish-based Tivoli Casino announced it will cease its international Tivolicasino.com operations in April 2016. The exact date of the shut down remains unknown, but according to the site, it will be announced very soon.
An e-mail signed by Tivoli Casino General Manager Martin Lerby reads: “It is with regret we must inform you that Tivolicasino.com will cease operations during April 2016. The exact date will soon be finalised and communicated to you at the earliest opportunity. As we are committed to close down in a controlled and professional way, you can be rest assured that you will be paid all affiliate commissions due on your players referred, for the entire time that Tivolicasino.com remains live.”
Whilst Tivoli’s international operation ceases, the casino’s .dk brand remains in operations. Tivoli Casino is a subsidiary of the world famous Tivoli Gardens amusement park located in Copenhagen, which has been operating since 1843. Tivoli’s Danish facing online casino for players from Denmark was launched in 2012 and two years later in June 2014, the casino started to offer its services to players worldwide, being granted licenses from the UK Gambling Commission and the Malta Gaming Authority.
Elisabeth Miltion Hemmingsen, Tivoli’s Commercial Director expressed during a stock exchange announcement: “Tivoli rapidly built up a significant market position for its Danish online casino. It was therefore natural to attempt to extend this Danish success story by establishing an international online casino. However, Tivoli’s international online casino has not achieved the desired results. For instance, the deficit has been larger than expected since the start, and consequently, the international casino will now be closed and instead the resources will be focused on the Danish online casino.”
