The Poker Palace Casino in North Las Vegas to close

US.- The Poker Palace Casino in North Las Vegas will close on October 1, affecting more than 100 employees. The property opened in 1974.

Near Nellis Air Force Base at 2757 N. Las Vegas Blvd, the venue opened in 1974. Today, it has a 25,900-square-foot gaming space with poker, 250 slot machines, bingo, seven table games, a bingo room, sports betting and a restaurant.

According to notifications sent to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation, the Nevada Gaming Control Board and the Nevada Gaming Commission, an estimated 126 employees will lose their positions. A Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act letter says redundancies will begin on September 30 and that the property will be sold.

Nevada gaming revenue increases in June

The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) gaming report for June shows the state’s casinos generated $1.3bn, up 3.5 per cent year-over-year. The Las Vegas Strip generated $765.2m, up 0,88 per cent year-over-year. Clark County as a whole, which includes the Strip, downtown Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, the Boulder Strip and surrounding areas, posted $1,15bn, up 3.54 per cent.

Washoe County, which includes casinos in Reno, Sparks and North Lake Tahoe, generated $91.4m, up 4.7 per cent. South Lake Tahoe reported $19.7m, up 2.6 per cent, and Elko County $32.8m, down 0.46 per cent.
