The 13 Hotel to open on August 31st

South Shore Holdings announced that The 13 Hotel opening has been postponed yet another month until August 31st.

Macau.- The opening of The 13 Hotel, owned by Hong Kong-listed South Shore Holdings Ltd (former The 13 Holdings Ltd), has been delayed once again. In a Tuesday filing, the company revealed the venue is set to open on August 31st, instead of July 31st.

“On July 23, 2018, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) commenced the re-inspection process of the hotel,” the company explained and added: “It is expected that all the required licences (namely the licences for hotel, food and beverage, health club and bar) will be granted by mid-August 2018.”

The MGTO had already conducted an inspection of The 13 Hotel in June and decided that the scheme’s promoter had to “apply for re-inspection” due to “unfinished works”. This year, the company had to postpone the opening date to June 31st, then July 31st, and now to August 31st. However, the venue’s casino, as South Shore Holdings believes, might only open by March 31st 2019.

Despite the continuous hurdles, the company believes the delays will help to “enhance the competitiveness of The 13 Hotel and to cater for the increasingly sophisticated needs of the target customers”.
