Tennessee sports betting handle breaks $200m mark
Tennessee is one of seven states to pass the $200m mark in a single month.
US.- Tennessee generated a total sports betting handle of $211m in January, according to The Tennessee Education Lottery.
January’s handle marks an increase of 16.6 per cent from the $180.9m handle taken in December 2020.
A record $21.8m was generated in operator revenue in January, up 56.8 per cent from $13.9m in December. The state collected $4.3m in taxes.
Jessica Welman, an analyst at PlayTenn.com, said: “Tennessee continues to be among the most surprising ascents of any U.S. sports betting market.
“The records won’t last, as Michigan already proved by snapping Tennessee’s record for a debut month. But the industry is off to a better start in the Volunteer State that anyone could have expected.”
