Svenska Spel appoints new CEO
The state-owned gambling monopoly from Sweden has appointed Patrik Hofbauer as new Group CEO.
Sweden.- The Board of Directors of the state gaming giant Svenska Spel has appointed Patrik Hofbauer as new CEO of the company. The current CEO of Telenor Sweden is set to replace outgoing leader Lennart Käll.
The news about Käll’s departure was first revealed in January when the state gambling monopoly revealed that he decided to leave his position in the summer. “We have begun changes in Svenska Spel for the new gaming market and we’ve come a long way for this to work. For me, it’s a good opportunity to hand over to a new CEO,” said Lennart Käll.
Hofbauer will take leadership of Svenska Spel in December, a month before Sweden is expected to implement a new online gambling regulatory framework. “Svenska Spel has a strong position, a strong brand and is facing exciting challenges through the new gaming legislation. I look forward to leading the company into the next phase together with the employees at Svenska Spel,” said Hofbauer.
Käll will leave his position on July 19th, and the Board decided that the period of transition to Hofbauer will be led by the company’s current CFO and vice president, Marie Loob, as acting CEO.
