Sun International to permanently close casinos

The Carousel Casino and Naledi Casino have been running at a loss for several years.

South Africa.- Sun International has announced that it will permanently close the Carousel Casino and Naledi Casino, both of which have been running at a loss for seveal years.

Both properties are currently closed due to lockdown measures put in place due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

“Given the unprecedented crisis that South Africa is facing, we accept that the authorities have no option but to implement a country-wide lockdown to protect lives, Sun International CEO, Anthony Leeming, said.

“However, the inevitable financial burden it placed on us has impacted our ability to continue subsidising under-performing properties.

“We previously made every effort to turn both businesses around, but these efforts have not achieved the desired results,” he added.
