SugarHouse applies for sports betting licence in PA

The company is the latest to try to obtain a licence to operate sports betting in Pennsylvania.

US.- SugarHouse Casino is the latest casino in Pennsylvania to get into the world of sports betting. The company submitted an application this week with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), and became the third local casino to do so.

Parx Casino and Harrah’s Philadelphia are the other two casinos in the state to apply for a sports betting licence, and they’re both waiting for PGCB’s review in order to proceed with the process to offer the gambling modality at their facilities.

The current regulations establish that operators that wish to apply for a licence have to pay US$10 million for it, a 34 per cent state tax and a two per cent local tax as well. This tax is significantly higher than the one in Nevada, which is the leading market when it comes to sports betting in the US.
