Wynn Resorts accused of cheating to win casino licence

Sterling Suffolk Racecourse filed a lawsuit against the casino giant for allegedly lying to win the licence for the Encore Boston Harbor.

US.- Wynn Resorts recently changed the name of its soon-to-open Massachusetts property from Wynn Boston Harbor to Encore Boston Harbor to separate the company from its founder, Steve Wynn, but other problems have emerged around the venue. Last Monday, Sterling Suffolk Racecourse accused the company and the casino mogul of lying and covering up misconduct to win the casino licence and develop the US$2 billion casino.

According to the plaintiff, which operates horse racing at Suffolk Downs, they would’ve won the bid had there been “an honest competition,” instead of Wynn Resorts “fixing the application process to hide its former CEO sexual misconduct.

“The Wynn Defendants were granted a license to operate their casino on a toxic waste site loaded with levels of arsenic still so high that a child day care centre would not be permitted to be housed there, even after the site was remediated and the regulations amended to countenance higher levels,” the lawsuit also adds.

Meanwhile, Wynn Resorts denied the claims and branded them as “frivolous” while advancing it will mount a vigorous defence.
