Station Casinos secures more land
The casino operator has acquired more land around Las Vegas, though it is not clear if it will develop a project.
US.- The latest property records indicate that Station Casinos is increasing its land holdings around Las Vegas: Clark County records show that the operator has purchased 40 acres in the community of Skye Canyon.
The transaction for the 40 acres was worth US$36 million, but the company hasn’t reported if it will develop a project on the land or not. However, it could also block another casino operator from expanding businesses.
“We are pleased to have acquired the Skye Canyon parcel, which is strategically located in the high-growth northwest area and well positioned for future development,” Station spokeswoman Lori Nelson said in a statement.
Head of Global Gaming at real estate firm CBRE Group, John Knott said to the Las Vegas Review-Journal that the acquisition prevents competitors from building a casino in that space: “There will be a market for gaming there someday, absolutely, and right now they’re in control of that opportunity.”
