Sportsbooks in Mississippi register good results

The sportsbooks in Mississippi recovered from July’s performance and posted a 48.5% month-on-month increase in revenues.

US.- The Mississippi Gaming Commission (MGC) released the financial report from August, a month in which sportsbooks in the state improved their performance over the previous month. The facilities registered US$9.9 million in sports bets in August, a 48.5% improvement from July.

Bets on football rose 792% from July to US$6 million and 152% from August 2018 to US$1.8 million. Handle also posted a significant improvement of 347% year-on-year. The kick-off of the college sports season fueled Mississippi’s sports betting industry in August.

Once again, the majority of the bets took place in coastal casinos, which registered US$13 million and obtained US$1.8 million in revenue. Approximately 65% of the bets were placed at the Coastal region in Mississippi.

July’s results

Total handle in Mississippi facilities fell to US$13.8 million in July. Revenue at coastal, central and northern casinos was approximately US$1.2 million. The figure represents a 35.2% fall from what the facilities registered in June. Win percentage during last month’s operations was 7.8%.

Coastal casinos were the best region in Mississippi. Over 54% of revenue came from coastal casinos, despite registering US$568k in total sports betting revenue, which represents a 19.9% decline from June’s US$709k.

Moreover, the regulator said that punters bet over US$8.6 million, approximately US$300k less than June’s US$8.9 million.
