Sports betting takes off in Colorado
A handle of $59.2 million was wagered via sportsbooks in July.
US.- Sports betting is finally on the rise in Colorado following the return of live sports in the US.
Sportsbooks in the state saw a handle of $59.2 million wagered in what was the third month of regulated sports betting.
That’s an increase of 55.2 per cent on the $38.1 million wagered in June, while May, the first month of regulated sports betting saw a handle of £25.5 million.
The increase was largely down to the return of major sports leagues such as MLB and NBA.
Baseball produced the biggest handle at $9.2 million, followed by soccer at $7.6 million, then table tennis at $5.1 million and golf at $4.8 million.
Basketball attracted $3.3 million in wagers, seven times the amount seen in June.
Sports betting was introduced in Colorado on May 1. Several bookmakers have already entered the market, including DraftKings, FanDuel, BetRivers and FOX Bet.
