Sports betting will come to Michigan in both online and land-based forms through a partnership between DraftKings and Bay Mills Resorts and Casino.

US.- Michigan’s Bay Mills Resorts and Casino in Brimley has partnered with the digital sports entertainment and gaming company DraftKings to bring sports betting to the state.

The partnership will allow players to place sports bets with DraftKings’ mobile and online sportsbooks and also in-person in person at a retail betting location at Bay Mills Resort and Casino, subject to both parties securing the necessary gaming licenses and approvals.

A consumer study found that over one-third of Michigan residents had already placed a legal bet via mobile by travelling to another state or internationally.

Another 55% had never made an online wager, suggesting a potential market of casual bettors upon market entry.

Ezra Kucharz, DraftKings’ Chief Business Officer, said in a press release: “Through a commitment to provide customers with a premier sports betting experience, DraftKings is happy to partner with Bay Mills Resort and Casino. The Great Lakes State presents a number of gaming opportunities and we look forward to collaborating with Bay Mills to provide residents with the best-in-class experience DraftKings is known for.”

DraftKings’ mobile sportsbook application and retail sports betting are already available in Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Bryan Newland, tribal chairman for the Bay Mills Indian Community, said: “Expanding on what entertainment options we can offer at Michigan’s longest operating gaming facility is always our goal. Our new on-site DraftKings Sportsbook will be one more great reason for Michiganders to vacation with us in the Upper Peninsula.”
