Sports betting in Iowa hits new record in March
Sports betting in Iowa had already set a new record in January. Revenue for March was up 75 per cent month-on-month.
US.- Sports betting in Iowa has been showing an uptick in the recent months and hit a new record in Match, with revenue of $13.45m. That’s an increase of 75.3 per cent on the $7.7m generated in February and breaks the previous record of 11.3m in January.
It also represents a 1,025 per cent increase on the US$1.2m reported in March 2020, when Covid-19 measures began.
Online sports betting accounted for $10.3m of total revenue in Match, ahead of retail at $3.1m.
Consumers spent $139.4m on internet sports betting during March, compared to $22.1m at retail sportsbooks. Online betting is no longer subject to an in-person registration requirement.
