Lawmakers discuss sports betting in Connecticut
The state legislators advanced bills that include legalised sports betting.
US.- Connecticut lawmakers have been focused on developing a bill that would set a favourable framework to debut its sports betting segment. This week, they advanced a number of bills that include legalised sports betting in Connecticut.
Some members of the General Assembly’s Public Safety Committee pointed out that some proposals still need to figure out details, which are subject to negotiations currently underway with Connecticut’s Governor Ned Lamont.
“I know that there are a lot more people than in this room that need to be part of this discussion,” said state Rep. Pat Boyd. The governor has met privately with the two federally recognised tribes in Connecticut, which operate Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods.
Furthermore, the committee advanced bills that would legalise sports betting, online gambling, online keno, a lottery-like gambling game and online state lottery draw games, but it is unclear if any of the bills will become law.
