Spain’s online gambling market rises

The Spanish online gambling market grew by almost one third in the first quarter of 2016.

Spain.- The Spanish online gambling market increased by nearly one third in the first quarter of 2016, following last summer’s legalisation for online slots play.

Gross gaming revenue in the same period totaled €102.3 million (US$ 116.05 million), showing a growth of nearly 8 percent from the previous quarter and rising a staggering 32.1 percent from last year’s first quarter.

In a common pattern, sports betting continued to dominate, capturing 50 percent of all online turnover and 57.3 percent of all revenue.

Gross gaming revenue data and this year’s spectacular growth are positioning Spain as one of the most appealing European market for online gambling and particularly sports betting.
