Southland Live casino gets endorsement
The Calumet City City Council has endorsed the Southland Live casino proposed by Delaware North in Illinois.
US.- The Calumet City City Council officially endorsed on Friday a casino proposal by Delaware North. The company wants to build a Southland Live casino and entertainment centre in Calumet City, Illinois.
The facility would build two miles from the Indiana border at the River Oaks shopping centre in Calumet City, nwi.com reported. The US$275 million facilities would feature 150,000 square feet of space with a gaming venue with 1,200 slot machines and 35 table games. It would also have an adjacent 200-room, 18-story hotel.
“River Oaks Center has been an economic anchor of the southeast suburbs for more than half a century, but it needs this exciting casino destination to bring it back to its former glory,” said Timothy Hughes, Southland Live Casino project manager.
”Equally important, Southland Live Casino will fulfil a longstanding goal of establishing a south suburban casino to provide an economic infusion for a predominantly minority community.”
“Southland Live will be a world-class entertainment destination unlike anything Illinois has seen while revitalizing an iconic location in the south suburbs,” said Osi Imomoh, Delaware North regional general manager. “We look forward to submitting our proposal and working closely with the Illinois Gaming Board once again to bring another successful casino operation to Illinois.”
